5 Tips To Get The Most Out Of Social Media

Social Media. We all love it or hate it (or do a little bit of both as we go through our daily lives). We clearly know that these platforms can be used to help or hurt our careers, promote or establish a brand/brands, get our voices heard, etc. I mean, it's become ingrained in our society and in the way it functions. So, how is it possible to make Social Media work for you?

Naturally, we decided to share something on the topic. That's why this week we have a special collab for our readers. Of course, when we venture on a topic, we only love to have the best. That means, this week, you'll hear from one of our co-founders and digital contributor Jamika Danielle.

As an expert on content creation and the creator of her very own visual social media studio for lifestyle brands, she was the perfect person to share on how to make social media work for you!

Check out her 5 tips on how to get the most out of Social Media!

Whether you are a brand, blogger, or an individual user, social media has immense benefits

in promoting and sharing anything you want and it has the ability to connect and or reach a

a great number of people. If you are well versed in social media or just getting into the game,

below I share some simple but effective tips to help leverage your social media platform and

boost your social media marketing strategy.

1. Show your Personality

Social media has become a powerhouse in marketing and in life in general and trying to

break through the noise can be difficult. But one thing you should remember is whether you

are building a personal brand or a business...your career may not be unique but your

story is. Get clear on who you are and although there might be brands that are similar to

you/yours, there will never be anyone who IS you and presents ideas as you do. Let your

individuality show!

2. Specify Channels

Not all social media channels are created equal. Some will have the audience you want to talk to, some you can talk a little more casual and use specific vernacular, and others you may have to be straight forward. In understanding your brand and its audience, you will discover the best

places to find and interact with your audience and which content works best for each platform. It also lets you know what TYPE of content to post on each channel, how to formulate text, connect with, build, and foster meaningful relationships.

3. Know your purpose

“Write it down on real paper with a real pencil. And watch s#$% get real”- Erykah Badu

Before jumping into the wormhole that is social media, get specific about your needs and

what you want to accomplish. What is it that you want to do? Some examples of social media

goals are to Engage, Educate, Entertain, Inform or Sell. What is your overall goal and how

can you break them down into S.M.A.R.T goals so that you can see progression and growth

in what you are doing?

4. Plan Content

Planning a strategy takes time, but in the end, it will most definitely SAVE time. Planning will

help you to visualize and stay organized across all social channels. It allows you to be more effective and consistent and more importantly, allows you to have a better understanding of analytics and what not to do again and what to do next.

5. Research competitors

We're not out here stalking anyone, let’s be clear. But, in order to know what the industry

standard is and to stay up to date and even ahead of the competition, you have to know

what's going on in your field.
