Sometimes weekends are boring. After a long week of monotony, when you’re looking to shake things up, watching Netflix and stuffing your face just doesn’t always cut it.
So, what do you do when you catch a serious case of the weekend blues?
You try something new! Take a pottery class, or try dancing! Take a trip to an art gallery or check out a new exhibit at a museum. If you live near another city, then hop in your car and take a road trip! Since I live in Canada, whenever I get bored, I drive 2.5 hours out of Ottawa to my favourite city — Montreal.
With its stunning architecture, its abundance of restaurants, and all the activity you can imagine, Montreal has quickly become my number one stay-cation destination.
Of course, I could talk about how amazing the city is; but, I’ll leave it to you to see for yourself! But, for those craving a new adventure and deciding to take a trip to Canada’s city of love, here are 4 places you can’t leave out while visiting!
Old Port of Montreal: You can’t visit Montreal without visiting the old port! It’s an100% must-see. Not only is it beautiful; but every surrounding street is filled with art, culture, and food. There is so much to do in the area that you can make a full day of it! Plus there's even a Ferris wheel!
RECOMMENDED: Pop in on a few of the art galleries, then take a stroll through the square. Grab some ice cream and then head over to the Old Port to complete your day with a ride on the Ferris wheel!
Arepera: Tucked away on a quaint side street, is an ADORABLE Venezuelan cafe. With its colourful decor and delicious food options, this unique spot is a must for a quick afternoon meal. Of course, the best part is, almost every dish is gluten-free!
RECOMMENDED: Plato Pabellón - Pollo guisado with Palitos de yuca con guasacaca
Atma: If you're looking for a nice, but spicy night out, Atma is a one-stop-shop for all that and more. Its unique vibe makes for the perfect evening on the town. Not to mention, this place is known for its top-notch service and the best Indian food you’ve ever eaten!
RECOMMENDED: Lentil battered chicken strips, the Tandoori assortment (4 tandoori style
meats: 2 chicken 1 lamb 1 shrimp), Rice and Naan to share
Juliette and Chocolat: You can’t leave MTL without grabbing dessert at Juliette and Chocolat! There are SO many options to choose from AND there are gluten-free or vegan alternatives to almost everything! Juliette and Chocolat is even open late, so it's the perfect end to a day out on the town!
RECOMMENDED: Coconut ice cream dipped in dark chocolate with gluten-free brownie chunks.
