Last week, we broke down some essentials needed to start a business; but, what about those of us who don't want to that? How do we non-business owners make more money??
While being a business owner, offers freedom that working a job doesn't, let's face it... it's not for everyone. Some of us just don't want, or need, the extra stress that comes with being our own boss --- and that's OKAY!
The amazing things is that even if owning a business isn't for you, you can still make the kind of money you want to make while working for someone else!
Here's how to do it!
1) Freelance
Essentially, you're still providing the same services you would if you started your own business, for other people! You don't have to worry about timelines, heavy marketing, business plans, or overhead, because freelancing is as easy as registering your service on a website. People often use sites like Upwork or Fiverr to share their talents with the world! You can set your pricing and deadlines or apply for jobs already posted to gain your extra cash. It's as easy as that!
2) Teach English
A quick and (relatively) painless option is doing something many of us already know --- teaching English to kids. There are a wide variety of websites, like Vip Kid, where companies will hire you to teach English online. They usually require a university degree (in any subject), but they give all the tools you need to succeed (lesson plans, etc). All you have to do is sign up and complete the interview process! While this job requires a lot of patience and high-energy, and it is typical to be scheduled to teach during peak hours (5am-7am EST); you'll still have quite a bit of flexibility and can work right from home!
3) Do Odd Jobs
We know this sounds...well...odd; but there are LOTS of people looking for people to complete tasks for them. This can include jobs like dog walkers, baby sitters, house sitters, and just people to run errands! Sure -- it sounds like a lot, but if you have spare time and need to earn a few bucks, this might be just the thing for you!
DISCLAIMER: Please stay safe! If you do this, try to stay within your neighborhood/vet your clients. If you need to do a job at someone's house, take a friend with you! You may have to split your cash but safety is always more important!
4) Get a Part-time job
Okay don't panic! I know after working 9-5 all day, a second job is the LAST thing anyone wants, but hear us out! A part-time gig is a great way to earn some extra cash! This doesn't mean committing to another 8 hr day either; you can apply to work a few shifts at a mall, lounge, or restaurant; OR get certified to teach a class! It doesn't have to be stressful.
BONUS: Work for a Customer Service Call Center
If you can find a call center that lets you commit to less than 40 hours per week, you can snag some extra $$ simply by sitting on the phone!
A little extra money can go a long way; so, committing to small projects, or working an additional 5-10 hours per week could earn you the supplemental income you've been looking for! We hope these 4 tips get your wheels going and we can't wait to hear about your success!
-Cheers!
